Together, let's upgrade our products

Every year, thousands of sports products reach the end of their life and are not upgraded as much as they should be. Today, it is possible to recycle a large number of them. We can also upcycle them: transform them to give them a second life.

We are a team of engineers, designers and product managers and we want to start this project, here, at the foot of Mont Blanc, in our design center dedicated to mountain sports. We will recover our defective and / or used products, impossible to repair to transform and upgrade them: tents, mattresses, etc...

The ultimate goal of this challenge is to create a small collection of clothing, accessories, etc...from used or defective camping and hiking products; and re-transform them into functional sports and leisure products that can once again be sold at Decathlon.

So, whether you are a handyman, a designer, a seasoned upcycler, whether you are simply teeming with ideas or whether you are sensitive to respecting the environment, you are all welcome to take part in this challenge!

And you, what would you do with the 2 second tent of your adolescence?

Of your worn-out mattress?

The jacket you've been wearing for a long time?

Or your old sleeping bag?

Several stages and 2 main objectives will punctuate this project:

The 1st objective is to produce a mini-series based on the best proposals that will be made to us. This mini-series will be produced with us, locally or somewhere in France in 2022.

The 2nd objective is to offer online tutorials based on your ideas: simple tutorials, accessible to as many people as possible (in open source), that everyone could reproduce at home.

The main stages of the project are as follows:

1- Launch the challenge this summer and collect as many ideas as possible

2- In October, we will elect together the best ideas that can feed the mini-series and tutorials.

3- In December, we will offer a trip to the co-creators selected here, in Haute-Savoie, to meet in our design center to bring your ideas to life together.

4- Then, we will embark on the production stage (mini-series and content for online tutorials)

5- The mini-series will be available in our 5 biggest stores in France; the tutorials will be available online at decathlon.fr. Of course, a reward awaits the selected projects.
