Hello everyone,
I have just finished going through the answers that you were kind enough to give us, and here are some learnings for us...
First of all, 238 responses is awesome! This shows our community's interest in the eco-design of carpets.
Well, of course, it's not that big of a surprise. We know that yogis are wonderful people who are committed to the planet and well-being.
But it reminds us that we are expected to take care of the environment and encourages us to give our all!
Then, we clearly understood that Bio-sourced means something to you! You know what it is, and you might like it.
On the other hand, you are clear about the limits of the solutions that exist:
“The quantity of biosourced or biodegradable materials must be substantial and clearly visible. Too much greenwashing with 5% biosourced materials for a product sold as super ecological”
"ok if we use agricultural waste to make the carpet. Not sure, okay if we grow plants on purpose to make a carpet. Agriculture must first be used to feed the planet. Not to power our cars "bio"fuel or to manufacture accessories for consumers in rich countries."
“The development of biodegradable products is good, but the development of an adapted recycling sector in parallel is better!”
We will therefore start small, by carrying out tests and measuring the real impact on the environment (should we heat more in production? What is the real origin of the materials and what certificates do the suppliers offer us? What % can should we put, and what non-biosourced additives?...)
Maybe a limited edition rug by next year...Who knows...
And finally, we made the decision to work as a priority on the long-term durability of our carpets.
Because it speaks to you more (average importance at 4.6 vs 4.0 for bio-sourced & bio-degradable)
But above all because a carpet that you don't need to change is a carpet that you don't buy. And not over-consuming remains the strongest action to reduce environmental impact.
And on this sustainability tab, you gave us some super useful feedback.
We discovered that the most frequently encountered wear problem is loss of grip... But we had never studied the question, and we have no idea how to test it... I feel that we're going to be tweaking our brains (and our carpets) in the coming weeks...
We will surely call on you again on this theme!
Finally, I'll send you a big thank you, because it's not every day that we receive dozens of "great", "well done", "thank you", "good initiative".
It gave us a hell of a time!!! Your encouragement is a real treat!
Congratulations again for your participation
See you soon for the rest of our co-created adventures
